Parent Night

Successful Parent night this past week.  I saw some previous students excited for a new year and met some great new families.  I am looking forward to Monday and getting back to teaching music everyday to these wonderful students.
I had this little set up of instruments out for students, and family members, to try out when they stopped by the music room at Parent Night.

Views of the classroom

As promised more pictures of my room set-up are below:

I am hoping to use this map to plot the regions that the upper grades are exploring music from.
This is my writing wall, I couldn't live without it thanks to the wonderful mentoring of my cooperating teacher during my student teaching!
Hoping to make this music vocabulary chart work this year.
This bulletin board will change, a lot, but it was easy to put together for the parent night this was.  You can also get a glimpse of my AWSOME music clip chart here.
The rules, reward chart and AMAZING organizer boxes for my manipulatives.
Tubanos, minus the one I had out for parent night.  These great movement cards, totally stolen from another great teacher blog and the ever useful heart beat strips.
Information posters for my 5th graders on all the band and orchestra instruments.
And the unpitched percussion area.

Getting Geared up for the New School year

I am so excited to be back at making beautiful music with my wonderful students coming the next week.  So far this week I have been diligently working on my classroom layout and collaborating with my music teacher friends on great open weeks activities to keep things moving as I get to know my new classes and students this year and they get to know me.

Here are some pictures from the classroom (more to come soon):
